  1. Hi Conor! First off, thanks for the comment on my introduction! Your game idea sounds interesting and pretty unique, and I like that you created a story to it, and not copied it from already existing games/comics/movies and so on.(Though it sounds a little bit like Katniss from Hunger Games sneaking out in order to hunt... anyway!)
I wonder though, why is the boy obsessed with the gems? What is his reason for sneaking out of the house and picking them up in a forest?
Could you possibly include that in story? Maybe he is collecting them because his grandfather collected them as a young boy so he is following his footsteps? Maybe they are valuable? Or, if you wanna go more into fantasy route, maybe he has some weird creature friend who likes them? Maybe... he is collecting them so he can sell them aaaaaand... buy some kind of gift for his parents? Perhaps for their wedding anniversity? Aww, that would be kinda cute.
Good luck with developing it further!

  2. Hey Conor, the game sounds really fun and interesting. Maybe instead of collecting gems you could collect candy? This makes more sense story wise. The description of gameplay, tone and visuals is very good but you could evaluate it a bit more. What I'm saying is that you could talk about the controls, what actions triggers what action. Also how will the time limit be displayed? Is there a limit to the gems? Are we going to have to run back home after the gems are collected? But over all a very interesting concept, can't wait to see it!

  3. Hey Conor!
Your game sounds really cool! Genuinely. I like the fact that you're going with a platform styled game. How do you plan to make the soundtrack by the way? If you need help with 8bit styled music or any music in general I'd be more than happy to help you out as I've always dreamed of making music for a game. Let me know anyway, I'll send you some sample work if you want <3

  4. Hey Conor,
I really like the sound of your game it sounds really interesting and unique. I like the storyline of the game it sounds really original it'll be fun to play and try and collect all the gems. Will there be maybe a timer at the side of the screen and will there be a certain amount of gems you have to collect to earn maybe a special object or like maybe extra time or something like that. Good luck creating the game I cant wait to see how it turns out !!!

  6. Hi Conor. I really liked the concept and idea of your game. I like that you have an exploration aspect in the game. I liked the lightheartedness of the idea and how all ages can play it. I think the timer is a great idea for the game because it brings a sense of competitiveness to the game and players. Its a game I would very much be into due to the competitiveness.

Introduction Into My (Awesome) Life

The names Conor, and in this blog I want to tell you a little about myself. I'm 20 years old and have lived in Dublin my entire life. I am currently a second-year student studying "Creative Digital Media" in Blanchardstown. I really enjoy my course and plan on getting a job in this industry when I get my degree. I'd describe myself as a determined and hardworking person who loves a good laugh. After working hard in year one it's safe to say I learned a lot. The best class I took last year was photography. I loved that this module required us to go outside to take photos because it offered a nice break from working inside all day. Although I liked most of my modules last year, I found modules that involved film or photography to be the most enjoyable. My goal for this year is to continue working hard and improve on my work. Speaking of working hard, we all need a break every now and again. Over the break, I took the opportunity to travel to several countries, i

Final GDD

This week's blog finalizes my game design document. I further developed my document this week by adding a lot more detail and some code. I looked at different Youtube videos to find code that I will need to make my game. I plan to finish the game a week early so it leaves time to test for bugs and or any other changes. I want to develop the game environment first so I can focus on the coding side of things. I want to focus more on the coding because it's more important than the visuals for this assignment. It will also require more of my time because I find coding to be the most difficult part of game development. I can use some of the same code in Unity tutorials for my game, so I only needed to research code for my games HUD, main menu, countdown timer, and gem counter.  After finalizing my GDD document this week, I started prototyping a map for my game. I imported some of the assets from the Unity tutorials and changed the textures the look of the textures using photosho
